Meet Kristen & Ian! I was so stoked when Kristen & Ian hired me for both their engagement session, as well as their wedding! They'll be getting married at the Hotel Palomar in downtown Chicago in June! It's safe to say it will be a bit warmer in June for their wedding, then it was for their engagement shoot in January. :-) Kristen and I formulated this idea of a wonderful wintertime engagement shoot in downtown Chicago: snow on the ground, winter boots, holiday lights still up, etc. What we didn't plan on though...was the cold. It has been unseasonably warm here in Chicago this winter. For example it is almost 50 degrees outside today in the middle of February! That's unheard of.

My wife Christina and I got married back in July, but just last week went our honeymoon to Antigua. Getting out of Chicago in January is always a welcome break, most especially when going someplace as beautiful as Antigua! We had never stayed at an all-inclusive and are so grateful we chose to stay at the Sandals Grande Antigua. The beaches, the pools, the restaraunts, the staff...everything was top notch. I can say in all honestly, it was the first time I've ever eaten (and LOVED) salmon. There is something about being on an island in the caribbean. In our 9 days there we met some amazing people; both native islanders as well as other couples also vacationing at Sandals.

My wife Christina and I are at the age (undisclosed) where many of our friends are beginning to have their first kids. So whenever we know someone who has a child and I have the opportunity to photograph them I'm truly honored. Doug and Lindsay, the parents of Poppy, are great friends of ours who will always hold a special place in our hearts. Doug was my roomate in Los Angeles and at the same time Christina and Lindsay were also roomates in LA! They both were also a big part of our recent wedding day. Doug is a television producer and Lindsay is a talented interior designer in the Pasadena area - Lindsay Reid Interior Design. When we were in the area for Thanksgiving, we were able to get together for Poppy's photoshoot!

Another day, another blog post and another engagement session. This time it is Jan and Susie who will be getting married in Cleveland in 2012! We began in Lincoln Park and made our way South along the water ending at sunset on North Avenue Beach. Jan and Susie share a common love of traveling and exploring and got engaged in South Africa! For the first blog post of 2011, meet Nic & Erin! They met back on Erin's 21st Birthday and are now getting married in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in August of 2012 at the downtown Courtyard! This is unique because I was a groomsmen earlier this year at the exact same hotel! For their engagement session, we headed over to Lincoln Park, and most specifically the new boardwalk extension of the Zoo. It made for some beautiful images. Here are a few samples from their day!

One of the many things I love about Chicago, are the constant dichotomies it offers. It's truly a unique city that presents a fully functioning urban environment, with rural tendencies. On this day, I escaped to 'The Farm' in Lincoln Park with Emmett and his family, for a country experience only about a mile away from downtown. Emmett showed up as one stylish little dude, happily sporting his various headwear. He absolutely loved being outside and was thrilled to play in the grass and explore some of the unique surroundings this area of Lincoln Park has to offer. Check out some previews of our day!
