Engaged - Kristen & Ian

Meet Kristen & Ian! I was so stoked when Kristen & Ian hired me for both their engagement session, as well as their wedding! They'll be getting married at the Hotel Palomar in downtown Chicago in June! It's safe to say it will be a bit warmer in June for their wedding, then it was for their engagement shoot in January. :-) Kristen and I formulated this idea of a wonderful wintertime engagement shoot in downtown Chicago: snow on the ground, winter boots, holiday lights still up, etc. What we didn't plan on though...was the cold. It has been unseasonably warm here in Chicago this winter. For example it is almost 50 degrees outside today in the middle of February! That's unheard of. Unfortunately on the day of our shoot however....it was freezing. I don't mean, "put on a hat and gloves and you'll be fine" cold. It was more like, "when the wind blows it hurts so bad it pulls curse words out of your mouth", cold. It was very tough conditions for an engagement shoot. But that day has made me even more excited to shoot Kristen and Ian's wedding in June! Poor Kristen just had her hair done that day for the shoot, and the second she stepped outside, Chicago's wind blew it everywhere...but she still looked great! Both were such incredible troopers and absolutely went with the flow. And by looking at the pictures, I don't think you could ever guess just how cold out it was.
